Slough Crime and Community Safety Summit |
||
The first ever Slough Crime and Community Safety Summit will bring communities and professionals together to discuss crime and disorder in Slough. Organised by the Safer Slough Partnership, the event is taking place at Arbour Park on Friday 24 October, from 12noon-4pm and residents and professionals are welcome to book a place. There will be speakers including Lisa Spall, the council’s community safety manager, Dwayne Nathan Jack, a reformed criminal turned motivational speaker, anti-knife-crime charity Ben Kinsella Trust, and Superintendent Helen Kenny from Thames Valley Police. Organisations who will be hosting stalls at the event include: • Slough Borough Council - anti-social behaviour stand with community safety, resilience and enforcement and housing team Councillor Ejaz Ahmed, lead member for communities, sport, leisure and public protection, said: “This promises to be an interesting and thought-provoking event, where we can all learn more about current concerns and how we can work together on some of the issues. “It will be a great mix of people from different organisations, and it will help start engaging discussions and build lasting partnerships. It will also offer a chance for members of the community to get advice, support and information on the day, as well as finding out about volunteer opportunities such as with the Street Guardians.” The event will give an outline of current crime concerns in Slough and highlight pressing issues like anti-social behaviour, organised crime, and prevention strategies. There will be a bleed kit demonstration, workshops regarding domestic abuse and alternatives to conflict, as well as networking opportunities. | ||
